The Future is Now classroom pairs participating middle school campuses with a Region 10 staff member in an ongoing co-learner relationship. Professional development activities, based in part on Alan November’s Digital Farm, involve students learning alongside their teachers, utilize existing technologies and free Web 2.0 resources, and support a classroom environment where students engage 21st Century skills and take ownership of their learning.
In addition to 6 hours of formal professional development each semester, teachers and students from the participating campuses engage in regular coaching sessions with the Region 10 staff member. The culminating day-long conference in June features presentations by students from each participating campus.
