Region 10 Education Service Center is the second largest of the 20 ESCs in Texas.  Created by the Texas Legislature in 1967, ESCs serve the students, schools and public educational enterprise of the State of Texas with technical assistance, training and products that enhance school improvement and the economies of school districts.


The service region is composed of 80 public school districts and 36 public charter schools (with 63 individual campuses) and a 2010-2011 student enrollment of 749,836.  This enrollment represents 15.2% of the 4,933,617 students enrolled in public education in Texas¹.  The region encompasses Collin, Dallas, Ellis, Fannin, Grayson, Hunt, Kaufman, Rockwall, and a part of Van Zandt Counties.


The total of all personnel employed in the school systems of Region 10 in 2010-2011 was 94,001².  This figure represents 50,912 teachers, 9,538 support staff positions (supervisors, counselors, librarians, nurses, therapists, etc.), 3,872 administrators, 8,416 educational aides, and 21,261 auxiliary staff (cafeteria, custodial, transportation, maintenance, etc.). {NOTE: Rounded to next whole number.}
