The Business/Finance and Operations (BFO) Services contain basic support services that enhance the business and financial activities and operations of school districts and charter schools. Those services fall into four categorical areas: business information services, business training services, school financial advisory services, and purchasing services. All of these services assist local school operations in becoming more efficient in accordance with the mandated principles and purposes of Regional Education Service Centers.

 

BUSINESS TRAINING SERVICES

Investment Officer Training

Investment Officer Training is a 10-hour training conducted over two days. It is the training required under Texas Government Code §2256.008 for the Treasurer, Chief Financial Officer and Investment Officer of local governments, including school districts. A ten-hour training is required from an independent source within twelve months of taking office and at least once during each two-year period thereafter. Certificates will be issued to all those who complete the training.

 

 

Financial Analysis and Comparison of Texas Schools (FACTS)

Training will continue to be provided, as needed, in FACTS.

 

Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST)

Training will be offered, as needed, in the new FIRST program required by TEA and the Comptroller of Public Accounts.

Web-based Foundation School Program (FSP) Training

Training will be offered and provided on the new web-based FSP system that allocates and distributes FSP funds to districts.
