School House Bullies
Regardless of socio-economic level, educational achievement or community awareness, bullying persists to varying degrees in all schools. This problem may go unchecked due to the fact that some students tend not to report these types of incidents to those in authority. When bullying, harassment, and intimidation occur – electronically or otherwise – school climate and academic achievement are negatively impacted, and these negative consequences can affect the perpetrator and victim, as well as the witnesses. This workshop will provide participants with
necessary to reduce these destructive behaviors, as well as ways to provide meaningful professional development to all staff members on this difficult and pervasive problem.
Each participant will receive a copy of the DVD, School House Bullies and the Facilitator's Guide

Legal Issues Free Speech Issues for Students and Employees
Everyone's got an opinion, and it seems that this is one thing that most people are more than happy to share! Thanks to Facebook, websites, texting, and other marvels of the digital age, speech is also increasingly easy to share, and comments can spread rapidly within a school community. From students making "statements" with t-shirts to teachers airing grievances in public, it's hard to know when speech is protected and when speech can be regulated. The complexity of the law makes this a challenging area, and new court cases have recently added to our understanding of the meaning of "free speech". Come and learn some guidelines on how the courts view free speech issues from the standpoint of school administration.
