SKAP is developed and managed by the Region 10 Education Service Center. It provides a set of activities that meet the SBEC requirement of "job alike" activities.
The SKAP is
is designed to assess the skills of the administrator who has 1-3 years experience as a principal or is an assistant principal. The SKAP is a one-day interactive simulation in which participants will engage in four (4) activities that simulate the responsibilities of an administrator: Complete a self-analysis, respond to several job-alike scenarios, develop a case study, and discuss the case study in a cluster/group exchange. Each activity is followed by a reflective piece. A detailed results follow-up report identifies overall performance on each dimension and lists resources that can be accessed for personal professional developmental planning.
Each participant will complete all activities and an assigned assessor will complete an evaluation and provide a written report along with feedback. The feedback session will ultimately result in a professional development plan tailored to the specific needs of the principal.
SKAP is designed to assess the skills of the principal or an assistant principal who has 1-3 years of administrative experience.
SKAP is designed to produce a developmental plan for the entry level (beginning) administrator.
A single assessor will conduct a follow-up feedback session and collaboratively assist in developing a professional growth program for the assessee.
There are limitations on the size of the assessment group. A maximum of ten (10) principals may participate in a SKAP session due to the nature of the role-playing activities.
