Bilingual Institute I (4 days)
This 4 day institute will address the fundamentals of working with English Language Learners (ELLs). Participants will gain knowledge of the different models in BE Programs, best practices, methodologies in the first and second language. Effective strategies for teaching English Language Learners will be addressed.
Dual Language Institute (2 days)
This 2 day institute is designed to provide administrators/teachers and staff a comprehensive overview of dual language programs. Participants will gain knowledge on how to plan, develop, design and evaluate a dual language program.
ESL Institute I - Secondary (4 days)
This institute is the first in a three-year sequence designed to develop campus-level specialists knowledgeable about ESL issues, requirements, and best practices.
Focus: Instructional issues such as language development through content, modification strategies for grade-level content, and in-depth lesson development. This institute is appropriate for both ESL and mainstream Secondary teachers.

Science in Spanish for the Bilingual Classroom (1 day)
This one day training is designed to support Spanish bilingual teachers K-5 as they work to improve their student's knowledge, concept mastery, and process skills in science. We will highlight key TAKS objectives and provide teachers with activities that will supplement and compliment the science curricula used in districts across the state of Texas.
Spanish Reading Academies
(LEER MAS K-2) (2 days)
The Teacher Reading Academies are components of the Student Success Initiative funded by the 76th Texas Legislature. This 2 day institute will provide additional Spanish support resources to assist with implementation of Pre-Kindergarten Guidelines, Kindergarten and First Grade Teacher Reading Academy in the bilingual classroom.
The Traits of Effective Writing for the ELL (2 days)
This 2 day institute will inform the participants of the language levels of the ELL, language acquisition and characteristics of emerging English language writers. Activities for Ideas, Organization, Voice, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency and Conventions will be addressed. Writing in the content area, scoring and literacy integration will also be presented.
Path to Scholarships TM Trainer Seminar (3 days - $400) (7-12)
This workshop provides an in-depth study of information, methods, and strategies that will increase the participants' knowledge and understanding of the scholarship process.
Path to Scholarships is an academic, motivational blueprint for successful dropout prevention. It empowers all students to pursue post-secondary education thus reducing the dropout rate and increasing the graduation rate motivating all students to do above average things. This workshop will walk participants through the scholarship search and application process step by step.

Dyslexia and ESL……In The Beginning
Participants will learn using research-based information what is expected and unexpected in the language process for Dyslexia and Second Language Acquisition. Emphasis will be placed on data gathering techniques.

ESL Institute III: Advanced Assessment
Participants will engage in designing informal assessments to use in classrooms with students who are struggling in the areas of language or content. Participants will learn how to build an assessment continuum through analysis of informal assessments, miscue analysis of oral and written language according to language levels.
SIOP for Grades 3-12 Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (2 days)
Participants will study the research based model that complements the mainstream classroom instructional practices while increasing the English Language Learners opportunity to learn content and academic language which will lead to higher levels of academic achievement. Hands on practice will be expected of the participants.
Six Traits of Effective Spanish Writing (2 days)
Bilingual teachers in grades 2-6 will learn how to apply the six traits of Spanish writing in their writing instruction. The training will include the characteristics of effective Spanish writing, lesson activities, rubrics for scoring and student writing samples.
Texas Oral Proficiency Test (1 day)
This 1 day training is offered 3 times a year, fall, spring and summer, for teachers seeking Bilingual and/or Spanish foreign language certification. The training covers the 15 tasks being assessed in the TOPT exam. Participants may purchase two books and cds for a cost of $60.00.
College Club (3 evenings and 1 day)
This four session parent/student series will address the basics of college planning.
