This is an online resource for BE/ESL Directors, Coordinators, and Specialists who would like an overview of what is required throughout the year for LPAC. This resource is an interactive year-at-a-glance calendar with links to specific LPAC tasks that must be completed each month. The calendar also includes dates/times of specific events held at Region 10 for BE/ESL Directors and Coordinators, including TEA TETNs. The year-at-a-glance calendar can also be printed in a shortened format for ease of use on a daily basis.

Students in Spanish bilingual programs are expected to acquire and demonstrate skills of the Spanish language, which has its own system of reading and writing conventions. Therefore, it is essential that teachers model the correct use of the Spanish language. This workshop provides an overview of some salient differences between English and Spanish grammar, spelling, punctuation, and writing mechanics to be effective language models for their students. This session is most beneficial for individuals who are proficient Spanish speakers, but who did not acquire the language in a formal school setting. Participants will be expected to submit a brief writing sample in Spanish during the course. (Successful participation of this workshop fulfills the written fluency requirement for Spanish under Section 3116(c) of Title III, Part A).
Bilingual Academies for Newly Certified Bilingual Teachers (Bilingual Academy, Day One) (PreK-6) NEW!
This basic session is designed for the newly certified bilingual teacher. It is a requirement for the Bilingual Academies for Newly Certified Bilingual Teachers and can also be used as independent component to acquire knowledge on the theory and practice of bilingual education.
ESL TExES #154 Competency Follow-Up (PreK-12) NEW!
Do you need more in depth training on one or more of the ESL TExES #154 Competencies? This online session is designed to offer in depth support by competency. Each competency will provide additional information to assist teachers in taking the ESL TExES #154 for ESL certification. These courses are recommended for those that have attended the 12 hour face-to-face session or for those that need a refresher before taking the exam.
I am ESL Certified, Now What? (ESL Academy, Day One) (PreK-12) NEW!
This basic session is designed for the newly certified ESL teacher. It may be used as the Day 1 session of the three components of the ESL Academy or taken independently of the three day session for independent credit. This course will focus on legal requirements for ESL programs and basic concepts of language acquisition.

Performance-Based Monitoring Analysis System (PBMAS): Overview of BE/ESL Indicators (BE/ESL Administrators) NEW!
This online course provides an overview of the 13 PBMAS indicators specific to BE/ESL programs. Course components include an explanation of the purpose of PBMAS in accountability, a description of the 13 BE/ESL indicators and data sources, and a discussion of staging interventions. Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives (AMAOs): Overview of the Objectives, Calculations and Data Sources (BE/ESL Administrators) NEW!
This online course provides an overview of the AMAOs that are used for District Title III Accountability. Course components include a discussion of the three Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives that are used for federal accountability, an explanation of the way the objectives are calculated, the data sources used, and the interventions necessary if the district does not meet all three AMAOs. Participants will be given downloadable handouts and links to resources.
Overview of the English Language Learner (ELL) Progress Indicator (BE/ESL Administrators) NEW!
The ELL Progress Indicator is used in the state accountability rating system and evaluates the progress of English Language Learners in attaining proficiency in reading in English based on their performance on either TAKS reading or the reading component of TELPAS. This online course provides an overview of the ELL Progress Indicator including an explanation of which students and assessments are included in the measure and how the indicator is calculated. Participants will be given downloadable handouts and links to resources.
Vocabulary Cybrary Booklet for English Learners (PreK-12)
This online resource provides research-based strategies to teach vocabulary to your English Learners in a flipbook form. Browse through photos and video clips of Region 10 classrooms to see effective examples of EL teaching strategies. Spanish references and resources are also available through this resource. Participate in the course and use these resources to assist with engaging students with new vocabulary and implement new vocabulary activities.
What are the ELPS? (PreK-12)
Join us for 4 one-hour web-based, presentations via Moodle! Each of the presentations will focus on a separate part of the English Language Proficiency Standards. These self paced professional development sessions will take participants through each component as well as obtain hands-on ideas that can be implemented in the classroom. Topics will include: ELPS and school district responsibilities, cross-curricular second language acquisition essential knowledge and skills, proficiency level descriptors, and implications for instruction for English language learners.
