Region 10 ESC provides an on-going variety of workshops and training opportunities that serve to promote state and national standards for excellence in CTE. National, as well as state and local speakers, provide participants from the Region 10 area of service with information regarding the improvement of classroom instruction, current information related to workforce readiness and other topics related to programmatic or legislative issues. Professional Development
Professional development for CTE personnel is available to districts and individual campuses within the Region 10 area of service, free of charge. Dates, times and methods of delivery may be requested and booked through the CTE consultant at Region 10.
Flash Judgements
This workshop challenges participants to look at personal judgments of students and explore how biases may impact the recruitment, retention and achievement levels of students in CTE programs. Participants leave with a better understanding of how personal bias impacts instruction. This experience benefits all teachers.
Taking the Road Less Traveled
This workshop is designed to provide teachers with the tools needed to encourage all students to consider nontraditional course offerings. The workshop includes strategies for creating program and career opportunity awareness, strategies for recruitment and retention and additional resources to promote nontraditional CTE courses.
Teaching the Special Populations Student in CTE
This workshop is designed to provide CTE teachers general information and strategies to assist in helping each student reach full potential. The workshop provides information in regard to special education students, students with disabilities and limited language learners. The workshop includes instructional strategies, compliance information, the role of the CTE teacher in the ARD committee and elective process. This workshop provides educators with a greater understanding of the challenges these students face and how CTE teachers can lead the way to success for every student.
