Bullying 101
Bullying among our youth is a significant problem...and steadily increasing. It contributes to absenteeism and concerns of safety for students, parents and staff. This workshop is designed to introduce the facts and research on school bullying which is one of the most prevalent behavior problems in America's schools. Participants will engage in discussions and activities to identify effective strategies for responding to bullying, teasing and other related behaviors that disrupt teaching and learning. A variety of tools and techniques will be shared to prevent school bullying and create a positive atmosphere where teachers can teach and students can learn.
Counseling 101... Doing It All and Making It Work! NEW
This training will be an opportunity for counselors to network with each other and receive quality training to keep counselors' feet well-grounded. The training will provide a variety of topics to help the new counselor with organization skills, tracking students, update on legislative changes, and ways to provide success for all students.
Current Trends in Substance Abuse (5-12)
Participants will learn about a variety of prescription drugs and other current drug trends that exist at the national, state, and local levels. Campus presentations may include additional topics such as signs and symptoms of drug abuse, drug paraphernalia, club drugs, raves, gang awareness, cheese heroin, and methamphetamine.
Cyber-bullying and Other Technology Attacks NEW
The Internet can be a wonderful resource for kids to use for research, do school work, play games, and even learn; however, it can also be very harmful! Cyber-bully is the next generation of bullying and equally hurtful to our youth. This workshop will inform participants on the latest statistics, trends and solutions to this problem. Participants will leave the workshop with a greater knowledge of this trend as well as ways to combat cyber-bullying in school and at home.
Stop Bullying Now: Tips, Tools and Strategies for Schools (3-8) NEW
This session is designed to acquaint school staff with ideas for taking a proactive stand to address bullying from a team approach. Participants will learn to access free resources available from the Stop Bullying Now project developed by the Health Resources and Services Administration. This interactive session will include discussions on bullying and bully prevention, ways for adults to take a stand against bullying and recommended activities for teaches to effectively use Stop Bullying Now "Webisodes" in the classrooms to address bullying with students.
Suicide Prevention: School Staff Awareness Training NEW
Did you know that suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death for ages 15-24? This informative and insightful workshop is designed specifically for school personnel to learn to recognize potential signs of suicidal ideation in individuals. Participants will obtain various resources that can be used if and when the need arises.
CTE- Why it Matters NEW
CTE plays a vital role in the College and Career Readiness Initiative. This presentation examines how CTE programs of study, CTSOs and industry certification opportunities in high school can prepare students for the demands of the 21st century workplace. Research and trends for emerging occupations will be addressed.
Extraordinary Teachers Make a Difference: Academic Success through CTE NEW
Special focus will be on building a CTE program based on rigor, relevance and relationships. Strategies for creating a climate for student success are discussed. Participants are encouraged to share ideas, plans and success stories!
"Paving the Way"... Are Your Students College and Career Ready? NEW
How is your district "paving the way" for all students to be college and career ready? Topics such as Parent Nights, Test Prep, College Fairs, financial aid, testing timelines, certification programs and technical training, as well as job market analysis will be discussed.
Charter Schools and CTE NEW
Charter schools and those needing a refresher on CTE program management and accountability will benefit from this workshop. This session will provide the specific rules and regulations a Career & Technical Education administrator must follow in order to stay in compliance with state and federal regulations. This is a MUST for Charter School administrators needing program planning and accountability guidance for CTE.
CTE Accountability and Program Management
Schools seeking to understand more about program-based monitoring will learn about current CTE requirements and how to develop workable campus and district plans to address areas of weakness as identified through a review of CTE student performance data. Teachers, counselors, and campus administrators are encouraged to participate in this workshop as a precursor to any comprehensive CTE planning, even if their school is not currently subject to PBMAS intervention.
CTE Program Evaluation and Review
This campus-based program review is offered to schools interested in a systemic approach to CTE planning and review. Emphasis is placed on emerging CTE trends, cross-curriculum instructional strategies, data collection and assessment, PEIMS coding compliance, guidance and counseling (4 year planning), teacher training and student certification opportunities. Recommendations for future decision making are made based on observed practices, campus and district goals and available assets.
Program Access Review - What Schools Need to Know
New requirements related to school accountability have emerged in recent years. This training focuses on aligning current practices and operations with emerging trends. Discussion of PBMAS, civil rights requirements and the need to develop internal auditing measures to insure compliance with federal legislation is emphasized.
Power of PEIMS for CTE NEW
Understanding PEIMS is critical to CTE in both funding and accountability. Participants will work with 4 year plan scenarios in coding CTE students for snapshot day and master schedules to ensure proper PEIMS codes for CTE courses are in place. Attention will be given to the Student Attendance Accounting Handbook, as well.

This session will provide an opportunity for educators to explore a variety of strategies for building internal and external assets that are designed to help young people grow up healthy, caring and responsible. Participants will become familiar with the Developmental Assets framework which is a powerful resource tool for strengthening relationships and creating an asset-rich environment for student learning and success.
Building Character: Let's Turn a Spark into a Fire
This session will focus on building character for the middle school and high school students. Participants will learn strategies to light the fires of students' minds through questioning and activities that facilitate character development.
Cool Ideas for Warming Up the Classroom with Assets (K-8) NEW
Campus teams will engage in activities and discussions relative to innovative ideas for creating a warm and caring classroom environment for learning. Learn ways to set the stage for learning through the introduction of positive classroom rules, morning connectors, peer-to-peer activities, cooperative learning, service learning projects, etc.
FISH for Schools: Teambuilding for Success
This session is designed to engage school teams in a variety of activities to promote positive relationships in a caring and respectful learning environment. Participants will discover effective teambuilding strategies using the 4 FISH practices - Choose Your Attitude, Be There, Play, and Make Their Day. Additionally, school teams will work together to develop action plans for creating student-friendly schools with teaching and learning in mind.
Look Into the Mirror: Strengthen Relationships Through Knowledge of Self and Others NEW
This awareness session is designed to highlight the importance of recognizing and encouraging respect and compassion for ourselves and others. Participants will discover strategies for improving staff communication and ways to strengthen relationships that will promote respectful and caring school communities.
Student Leadership/Resiliency Skills: Student Assembly
A student presentation/assembly may be requested for students on such topics as peer pressure, bullying, self-esteem, drug prevention, and character education. Each assembly is designed to be interactive and developmentally appropriate for students. The primary goal of each assembly is to promote the development of positive leadership and resiliency skills in students so they are able to make good choices and avoid risk behavior.
