Procurement and Commodity Processing Cooperatives
Food Purchasing Co-op
The Food Purchasing Coop solicits and tabulates bids for the member districts and provides support and technical assistance with the administration of the bid. Member districts meet to provide input as to the products they need and their satisfaction with the vendors. Member districts should realize a savings due to volume purchasing.
Commodity Processing Co-op
The Commodity Processing Coop will solicit bids for commodity processing and coordinate the submission of quantities and the ordering of product for the member districts. For example, bulk ground beef can be processed into hamburger patties and commodity chicken can be processed into chicken nuggets.
Districts may choose to participate in one or both cooperatives. To become a member, a district with an ADA of 1380 or less must pay $250, a district with an ADA over 1380 must pay 18 cents per ADA. The fee is the same for participating in either one or both Co-ops.
