These academies are designed specifically for math, science, social studies, reading, English, and language arts teachers of adolescents and will offer a comprehensive look at teaching writing in any context. Participants will explore research-proven methods for engaging students in the writing process while keeping in mind the requirements unique to Texas (i.e. STAAR).
This session will acquaint participants with the components of the Texas Middle School Fluency Assessment (TMSFA), a diagnostic and progress monitoring instrument appropriate for use with middle school students. Participants will learn how and when to administer the TMSFA. This session will also explain how to interpret test results and how to use those results to plan instructional interventions. This training has been designed specifically to meet the needs of middle school teachers, who will, in accordance with HB 2237, Section 6, administer the diagnostic assessment to students.
