After School Specials

This year Region 10 is piloting a new service to provide quality training without the expense of substitute teachers.  Limited funding brings about limitless ideas, and this new program-After School Specials-will feature two-hour after school workshops in clustered locations combined with "before" and "after" components.  Based on sound research principals, After School Specials will provide participants with a pre-learning experience "before" the face-to-face workshop, meaningful content "during" the workshop, and an extension activity "after" the session is concluded.

Library Program Consultation
This service assists the librarian in evaluating the library program, including schedule, lesson plans, and collection analysis. The service will include a site evaluation visit, complete with a debriefing session with library personnel.

K-12 Database e Implementation
This service will provide assistance with accessing, publicizing, and utilizing the state-provided databases. It will include curriculum integration and collaboration strategies.

New Librarian/Paraprofessional Mentoring
As a service to new librarians and library paraprofessionals, the Region 10 library consultant will provide clustered training for new librarians and online mentoring via the Library Services Cooperative PLC. Novice librarians will have an opportunity to glean ideas for collection development, reading incentives for students, and record-keeping methods for organizing a well-run library.
