The Texas Regional Collaborative for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching (TRC) is an award-winning statewide network of sixty P-16 partnerships that provide sustained and high intensity professional development to P-12 teachers of mathematics across the state.
(2009-2010) Overview of the Program
Welcome! We are excited that you are interested in the Texas Regional Mathematics Collaborative. The program begins at the start of each academic year. Acceptance into the program begins in Spring of the prior year and continues through the summer until all available positions are filled.
The goal of the Mathematics Collaborative is to:
Each participant (to be known as the Mathematics Teacher Mentor) must attend a minimum of 75 contact hours. Part of the 75 contact hours may include a 2009 summer institute. Upon the completion of all requirements, participants will receive a $1000 stipend. Stipend payments will be disbursed twice a year. In addition to the stipends, each participant will receive materialsas well as FREE tecnology in designated sessions. Each Mathematics Teacher Mentor will be required to maintain and submit two times a year to the project director a staff development log. In addition, each mentor will also be required to conduct 6 hours of mentoring to teacher(s) on the home campus or in the district. The mentor log will also be maintained and submitted to the project director twice a year. Finally, one classroom observation must occur and the classroom instruction must be over one of the lessons included in the Texas Regional Mathematics Collaborative training.
The Texas Regional Mathematics Collaborative's mission is to provide Region 10 mathematics teachers with support systems of scientifically researched, sustained, and high intensity professional development and mentoring to assist them in the successful implementation of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). The Texas Regional Mathematics Collaborative programs equip teachers with the knowledge and skills to engage students in meaningful learning experiences. Activities are designed to improve students' scientific, mathematical and technological literacy, and inspire them tp pursue science and engineering related careers.
