After School Specials NEW
This year Region 10 is piloting a new service to provide quality teacher training without the expense of substitute teachers. Limited funding brings about limitless ideas, and this new program - After School Specials - will feature two-hour after school workshops combined with "before" and "after" components. Based on sound research principles, After School Specials will provide participants with a pre-learning experience "before" the face-to-face workshop, meaningful content "during" the workshop, and an extension activity "after" the session is concluded. This before/during/after concept aligns with NCLB standards for ongoing continuous learning.

Customized Consultations in Mathematics
Individual districts or campuses may request a personalized consultation in the area of mathematics. Consultations might include tailored services such as facilitated revisions of curriculum, instruction, and/or assessment per state initiatives or mandates, planning for future professional development, problem solving, or addressing other needs identified by the campus or district. Region 10 Consultants are eager to lend their expertise through the most useful approach possible.

Texas Regional Mathematics Collaborative Member (3-12)
Region 10's Texas Regional Mathematics Collaborative is a program that provides mathematics teachers with support systems of scientifically researched, sustained, and high intensity professional development and mentoring to assist them in the implementation of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Our program equips teachers with the necessary knowledge and skills to engage students in meaningful mathematics learning experiences. Activities are designed to improve students' mathematical thinking and literacy. Each year the program recruits 40 to 50 teachers known as math mentor teachers (MTMs) from Region 10 school districts who participate in 83 contact hours of staff development. Two weeks of the staff development (60 hours) are completed in the summer and the remainder of the staff development hours is completed during the academic year. These mentor teachers are required to mentor other math teachers on his or her campus or in the district. NOTE: The program requires principal approval.
