Reaching the At-Risk Migrant Student

This session will be directed toward meeting the needs of the most at risk students. Organized around the basic needs of competence, belonging, usefulness, potency and optimism, teachers will learn practical strategies and tips to help migrant students become successful learners.

 

Reaching the Hidden Minority, the Migrant Student

This professional development session specifically designed for teachers of migrant students and migrant education coordinators is designed to acquaint participants with the needs of the migrant child. The session will address the characteristics of migrant students and parents, cultural differences, native language, avoiding retention, and specific strategies for teaching the migrant student.

 

District Effectiveness and Compliance

On-site technical assistance is provided to meet specific district needs in developing and implementing policies regarding migrant students. Focus will be on providing district/campus structure necessary to deliver services to migrant students based on identified state and local migrant student needs.
