Texas Regional Collaborative for Excellence in Science Teaching

Each year, the TRC offers Professional Development Academies in a science content area and grade level consistent with state priorities and student achievement data.

In 2010-2011, 40 hours of biology professional development will be provided with an emphasis on teachers in grades K-12.   Additionally, each collaborative will have team members involved in the TXESS-Revolution project, an NSF funded Geoscience professional development program to meet the needs of the Earth and Space Science curriculum offered at high school.  Physics, chemistry and earth science professional development opportunities will continue to be offered to meet the needs as determined by state priorities.  Each collaborative member will be required to attain 105 hours of professional development for 2010-2011 school year and turn the staff development around to other members of their campus or district.  Members can receive up to 3 hours of graduate credit from Texas A&M-Commerce by attending the Summer Institute.

Registration for the 2010-2011 Collaborative will open on April 19, 2010.  Those interested in being considered for the 2010-2011 Collaborative MUST complete the Registration Form and Principal Commitment Letter.  These items must be faxed to 972.348.1505 (Bobette Mauck) by April 30, 2010 if you want to be considered for the 2010-2011 Collaborative at Region 10.   Don't delay, there are only 35 member places available!
