We’re Looking for Sheroes!

In an effort to honor our female heroes, our Sheroes,

Region 10 Education Service Center is planning a publication in conjunction with National Women’s History Month, March of 2009.

A Shero is . . .

  • A young woman who has achieved success in her life despite obstacles.  Those obstacles may have presented themselves in any number of ways, e.g.,  physical handicap, economic disadvantage, language/culture difference, or learning disability.  Sheroes come from all walks of life.

AND

  • A young woman who has had an impact upon her chosen field of employment, business, service, and/or her community.  A Shero might be a high-profile woman or an every-day woman.
  • Some of her success can be attributed to achievements in education.  A Shero has reached a level of personal and/or professional success because she was able to walk through doors or create windows of opportunity for herself due in great part to the education under her belt or sash!

This inspiring publication will feature a collection of short stories, wisdom, reflections, and testimony from a diverse group of women who mirror the changing face of our region, our state, and our country.  In addition to being featured in our publication, honorees will be recognized at a reception on Saturday, March 28, 2009.

Join us in Celebrating Sheroes!

If you are a Shero or know a Shero, please complete the Shero nomination form on the following page.  If you are submitting a form for someone other than yourself, please make sure that your Shero is aware of your nomination and is willing to share her story. Return the form to Marilyn Price at Region 10 Education Center by fax (972-348-1459) or email, Marilyn.Price@region10.org on or before January 23, 2009.  Please feel free to forward this communication to colleagues, friends, family, and other acquaintances within our region.  Every nomination will be considered; however, space limitations may not allow us to include every submission in our publication.  This publication is a labor of love born of the desire to encourage others to persevere despite their challenges.  If you have further questions, please contact Marilyn Price at 972-348-1458.
