Applicant Information

Welcome to the application process. This process includes submission of documents and completion of an online application. You will need your official college transcripts, a notarized criminal affidavit, three professional references and your score report on a Pre-Admission Content Test (PACT). An explanation of admission requirements and links to forms are provided.

 

 
College Degree

A bachelor's degree from an accredited university with a minimum overall grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Individuals who hold a foreign degree must have the equivalent of bachelor's degree from an accredited university. (See Foreign Transcript Information below)

 
Semester Hour Requirement

See certification areas for content specifics.

 
Work Authorization

Proof of valid work authorization is required if not a U.S. citizen.

 
Pre-Admission Content Test (PACT)

Most certification areas must demonstrate content proficiency by submitting passing scores on a Pre-Admission Content Test. Be sure to take the content test that correlates to the specific certification area for which you are applying. Also, be sure you have the required college coursework for the certification you choose.

 
Access to Computer

Participants must have daily access to a computer, printer, and Internet.

Detailed Foreign Evaluation

Transcripts must be translated and evaluated by an approved SBEC Transcript Evaluation Agency prior to submission. The evaluation of your transcript must verify that your degree is equivalent to a U. S. bachelor's degree or higher to be eligible for acceptance into the TPC program. Accepted Foreign Evaluation Agencies

 

Original Transcript

TPC must view the original foreign university transcript from which they will make a copy. This document can be brought to the TPC office at any time during the application process during business hours.

 

TOEFL iBT Score

TOEFL iBT scores are required unless a bachelor's degree or higher has been obtained in the United States.

THEA Scores

Contact a local community college to schedule this basic skills test. The THEA is required for individuals who have not obtained an associate's degree or higher from the United States.

Notarized Criminal Affidavit
This form must be completed and signed in the presence of a notary public. The orginial signed document must be returned to the TPC office.

Online Application

 

Once you begin the online application, a file will be created within our system. Each time you complete a page of responses and advance to the next screen the information will be saved. If you must close your browser, or are disconnected, the system will save your information.  Simply log back in and continue the process.  The online application will ask you to select a certification area.  Before making a selection, review your college coursework to ensure that it meets the certification area requirements.  This will also assure that you are taking the appropriate Pre-Admission Content Test (PACT). The online application process includes the following steps.

 

1.

Create a Region 10 account. This will provide the user name and password needed to login and complete the application. Click The Region 10 Login button to the right, then click the Create an Account link at the left of the screen.

Important Note: When prompted to do so, select Region 10 as the Region, select Teacher Preparation and Certification Program as the District, and then select TPC as the Campus.

 

2.

Complete the online application form, which will be a 1-2 hour process. If you have any difficulty while completing the application, please contact the TPC office at 972-348-1492.

 

3.

Pay the $50 application fee (non-refundable). Payments may be made online by credit card, in person at Region 10 for cash payments, or by mail for money orders or checks.

 

4.

Complete an online teacher interview. This process takes 30-35 minutes and must be completed once initiated.

 

5.

Print the additional required forms and submit them to Region 10, (Region 10 ESC, TPC Program, 400 E. Spring Valley Rd., Richardson, TX 75081). The directions for printing these forms are provided at the end of the online application process. 6.

Register to take a PACT test if required for your certification area. Before starting your application, please look over the certification areas to ensure that you meet the coursework requirements and that you are registering for the appropriate test.

 

 

7.

Completion of a writing sample for assessment of written communication skills is required.
Bilingual or LOTE applicants will complete an additional writing sample in the target language.

   

 

Applications are not considered complete until all steps are finished and all required documents have been received in the TPC office. Once the application is complete, the screening committee will begin reviewing your application information. This process is generally completed in 3-5 weeks. You will receive written notice at that time.
