New State Guidelines
Recently, the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) adopted, and the State Board for Education (SBEC) approved new rules to Texas Administrative Code Chapters 228. The new rules provide minimum standards to which all educator preparation programs must adhere as well as providing increased requirements for potential educators entering the teaching profession.
While the rules are more in depth, the highlights below provide a summary of the new rules that directly affect applicants applying to the Region 10 Teacher Preparation and Certification (TPC) program on or after January 1, 2009. The new rules may be viewed at the State Board for Educator Certification website.
Chapter 227.10 Admission Criteria
Current applicants and those who have applied after January 1, 2009, will need to complete and pass a TExES content exam prior to program admission.
- Pre- Admission Content Tests (PACT) highlights from SBEC
- Region 10 Teacher Preparation and Certification offers REVIEWS to prepare for most examinations.
- Test registration and administration is conducted by ETS.
