  • Art EC-12

    Individuals applying for the Art EC-12 certification area should have 24 semester hours of college coursework, 12 of which are upper-level, in art related courses with a minimum GPA of 2.5.  A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required on the overall GPA as well.

     

    Alternatively, you may have a minimum of 12 hours with a GPA of 2.5 along with a satisfactory score on the #178 Art EC-12 PACT exam.

  • Agricultural Science & Technology 6-12

    Individuals applying for the Agricultural Science and Technology 6-12 certification area should have 24 semester hours of college coursework, 12 of which are upper-level, in agricultural science and technology related courses with a minimum GPA of 2.5.  A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required on the overall GPA as well.

     

    Alternatively, you may have a minimum of 12 hours with a GPA of 2.5 along with a satisfactory score on the #172 Agricultural Science and Technology 6-12 PACT exam.

  • Bilingual Generalist EC-6

    Individuals applying for the Bilingual Generalist EC-6 certification area must have a minimum of 24 semester hours in the following subjects, with two courses (6 semester hours) in each of these areas: English, mathematics, science, and social studies (effective April 1, 2010). A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required on the 24 hours and on the overall GPA as well.


    A passing score on either the #191 Generalist EC-6 or the #192 Bilingual Generalist EC-6 PACT exam is required.  After May 7, 2010, neither the #101 Gen. EC-4 test nor the #102 Bilingual Gen. EC-4 test may be used to fulfill the application requirements for this program. Note:  only the #164 Bilingual Education Supplemental exam may be combined with Gen. EC-6.

  • Business Education 6-12

    Individuals applying for the Business Education 6-12 certification area should have 24 semester hours of college coursework, 12 of which are upper-level, in business related courses with a minimum GPA of 2.5. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required on the overall GPA as well.

  • Chemistry 8-12

    Individuals applying for the Chemistry 8-12 certification area should have 12-24 semester hours of college course work in Chemistry (24 hours being preferred and 12 of which are upper level) with a minimum GPA of 2.5. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required on the overall GPA as well.

     

    Alternatively, you may have a minimum of 12 hours in Chemistry with a GPA of 2.5, along with a satisfactory score on the #140 Chemistry 8-12 PACT exam.

  • Computer Science 8-12

  • Dance 8-12

  • English, Language Arts and Reading 4-8

    Individuals applying for the ELAR 4-8 certification area should have 24 semester hours of college coursework, 12 of which are upper-level, in English, language arts and reading related courses with a minimum GPA of 2.5.  A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required on the overall GPA as well.

     

    A passing score on the #117 ELAR 4-8 PACT (TExES) exam is required.

  • English, Language Arts and Reading 8-12

    Individuals applying for the ELAR 8-12 certification area should have 24 semester hours of college coursework, 12 of which are upper-level, in English, language arts, and reading related courses with a minimum GPA of 2.5.  A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required on the overall GPA as well.

     

    Alternatively, you may have a minimum of 12 hours with a GPA of 2.5 or above along with a satisfactory score on the #131 ELAR 8-12 PACT exam presented upon applying.

  • Family and Consumer Sciences 6-12

    Individuals applying for the Family and Consumer Sciences 6-12 certification area should have 24 semester hours of college coursework, 12 of which are upper-level, in courses* related to the area of interest with a minimum GPA of 2.5.  A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required on the overall GPA as well.

     

    *Related courses are: Family Studies and Human Services, Human Development Education, Nutrition and Food Sciences, Hospitality, Consumer and Resource Management, Textiles and Apparel, and Environmental Design.

     

    Approval for the Family and Consumer Sciences Composite examination will be given upon acceptance into the program.

  • Generalist EC-6 with ESL

    Individuals applying for the Generalist EC-6 with ESL certification areas should have 24 semester hours in any combination of the following subjects, with at least two courses (6 semester hours) in each of these areas: English, mathematics, science, and social studies (effective April 1, 2010). A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required on the 24 hours and on the overall GPA as well .

     

    A passing score on the #193 ESL/Generalist EC-6 or the #191 Generalist EC-6 or the PACT exam is required. Those who have completed the #191 Generalist EC-6 exam will be required to take the #154 ESL Supplemental exam before completing the certification process.

  • Generalist 4-8 with ESL

    Individuals applying for the Generalist 4-8 with ESL certification area should have a combination of 24 semester hours with 6 hours being required in each of these areas: English, mathematics, science, and social studies. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required on the 24 hours and on the overall GPA as well.

     

    A passing score on the #111 Generalist 4-8 or the #120 ESL/Generalist 4-8 PACT exam is required.

  • Health Education EC-12

    Individuals applying for the Health Education EC-12 certification area should have 24 semester hours of college coursework, 12 of which are upper-level, in health education related courses with a minimum GPA of 2.5.  A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required on the overall GPA as well.

  • Health Science Technology 8-12

    Individuals applying for the Health Science Technology 8-12 certification area (a Career and Technology Education secondary certification) should have 24 semester hours of college coursework, 12 of which are upper-level, in health science technology courses with a minimum GPA of 2.5.  A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required on the overall GPA as well.

     

    Additional requirements:

     

    Submit documentation showing 2 years of wage earning experience utilizing the licensure requirement.

     

    Submit documentation proving current licensure, certification, or registration by a nationally recognized accrediting agency as a health professions practitioner, based on a program requiring at least two years of formal education.

     

    Submit the Texas Education Agency Statement of Qualifications for Secondary Career and  Technical Certification to the Region 10 TPC Program. Click to access this form.

  • History 8-12

    Individuals applying for the Hospitality, Nutrition, Food Services 8-12 certification area (a Career and Technology Education secondary certification) should have 24 semester hours of college coursework, 12 of which are upper-level, in courses* related to the area of interest with a minimum GPA of 2.5.  A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required on the overall GPA as well.

     

    *Related courses are: Food, Lodging and Hospitality, Nutrition, and Food Sciences.

     

    Approval for the Hospitality, Nutrition, Food Services 8-12 examination will be given upon acceptance into the program.

  • Journalism 8-12

  • Life Science 8-12

    Individuals applying for the Life Science 8-12 certification area should have 24 semester hours of college coursework, 12 of which are upper-level, in life science related courses with a minimum GPA of 2.5.  A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required on the overall GPA as well.

     

    Alternatively, you may have a minimum of 12 hours in Life Sciences with a GPA of 2.5, along with a satisfactory score on the #138 Life Science 8-12 PACT exam.

  • Languages Other Than English (LOTE) EC-12

    Individuals applying for the TPC program in one of these certification areas must have 24 semester hours in the target language, 12 of which are upper-level, with a minimum GPA of 2.5.  LOTE certfications include American Sign Language, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Latin, and Spanish.


    Alternatively, you may have a minimum of 12 hours with a GPA of 2.5 along with a satisfactory score on the PACT exam required for the area in which you are seeking certification presented upon applying. (See below for required PACT examinations.)

     

    PACT Examinations:

     

    Latin must demonstrate knowledge of grammar, syntax, literature, and culture through a satisfactory performance on the ExCET #050 for Latin.

     

    French, German, and Spanish must demonstrate knowledge of grammar, syntax, literature, and culture as well as oral and written proficiency in the target language through satisfactory performance on the LOTE EC-12 test pertaining to the specific language being pursued for certification. (#610 LOTE French , #611 LOTE German , #613 LOTE Spanish)

     

    Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, and the other "LCT" (less-commonly taught) languages must demonstrate a knowledge of speaking and writing ability through a satisfactory performance on the oral proficiency interview and writing proficiency test provided by ACTFL. These tests are completed here at Region 10 TPC and are arranged with ACTFL by the consultant of this certification area.

     

    American Sign Language must demonstrate a knowledge of language acquisition, communication processes in sign language, historical and current research on ASL, and deaf culture and communities throughout the world through a satisfactory performance on the #184 ASL EC-12 PACT exam. American Sign Language applicants must also achieve a satisfactory performance on the  #073 TASC-ASL  exam to demonstrate communicative proficiency after acceptance into the program.

  • Marketing 8-12

    Individuals applying for the Marketing 8 -12 certification area (a Career and Technology Education secondary certification) should have 24 semester hours of college coursework, 12 of which are upper-level, in marketing related courses with a minimum GPA of 2.5.  A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required on the overall GPA as well.

     

    Additional requirements:

     

    Submit documentation showing 2 years of wage earning experience in one or more of the marketing occupations.

     

    Submit the Texas Education Agency Statement of Qualifications for Secondary Career and  Technical Certification to the Region 10 TPC Program. Click on this link for the form.

     

    Take and pass the #175 Marketing Education 8-12 examination for this area after acceptance into the program.

  • Mathematics 4-8

    Individuals applying for the Mathematics 4-8 certification area should have 12-24 semester hours of math related coursework (preferably 24 hours with at least 12 hours of upper level courses for the "Highly Qualified" status) with a minimum GPA of 2.5. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required on the overall GPA as well.

     

    Additionally, as part of the application process, you are required to pass the #115 Mathematics 4-8 PACT exam and submit the score sheet to Region 10 TPC.

  • Social Studies 4-8

    Individuals applying for the Social Studies 4-8 certification area should have 24 semester hours of college coursework, 12 of which are upper-level, in social studies related courses* with a minimum GPA of 2.5.  A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required on the overall GPA as well.

     

    *Related courses are: American History, World History, Economics, Geography, and American Government.

  • Social Studies 8-12

    Individuals applying for the Social Studies 8-12 certification area should have 24 semester hours of college coursework, 12 of which are upper-level, in social studies related courses* with a minimum GPA of 2.5.  A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required on the overall GPA as well.

  • Special Education EC-12

    Individuals applying for the SPED EC-12 certification area must have a minimum of 24 semester hours in a combination of the core subjects of English, mathematics, science, and social studies. Six hours in each area is preferred, although three hours in a subject can be considered. A minimum GPA of 2.5 in the 24 hours as well as on the overall GPA is required.

     

    Passing either of the following tests is also a requirement : #191 Generalist EC-6 PACT or #111 Generalist 4-8 PACT.

     

    Approval for the #161 Special Education EC-12 examination will be given after acceptance into the program and completion of the coursework.

  • Theatre EC-12

  • Trades and Industrial Education 8-12

    Individuals applying for the Trades and Industrial Education 8-12 certification area (a Career and Technology Education secondary certification) should have 24 semester hours of college coursework, 12 of which are upper-level, in courses related to the area of interest with a minimum GPA of 2.5.  A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required on the overall GPA as well.

     

    Additional requirements:

     

    Submit documentation showing 3 - 5 years of wage earning experience within the past eight years.

     

    Submit a current licensure, certification, or registration by a state or nationally recognized accrediting agency as a professional practitioner in one or more approved occupations for which instruction is offered. If the licensure, certification, or reigstration is not based on a recognized test or measurement, then satisfactory results on the appropriate National Occupational Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI) assessment are required.
