The College Access Loan (CAL) |
This program is part of the Hinson-Hazlewood College Student Loan Program portfolio administered by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. It provides low-interest loans to Texas students and Alternative Certification Program (ACP) participants who need assistance in paying for their education. Applicants do not have to demonstrate financial need; the CAL loan may be used to cover the expected family contribution (EFC). |
Student Loan Deferment |
Deferment of existing school loans may be possible during your internship. The TEA website has detailed information regarding loan deferment or partial loan forgiveness. An Education Related Deferment Request must be completed and returned to the TPC office. Contact Julie Hempel at 972-348-1566 for help with the Student Loan Deferment Request form. |

Texas Military InitiativeTroops to Teachers (TTT) |
If you are retired from military service or think you may be eligible for TTT, please contact Meryl Kettler at 1-800-810-5484, or visit the link above for more information. Troops to Teachers continues to offer stipends of up to $5000 to military retirees and long term (10 or more years) reservists and Guard personnel currently in drilling status to offset the costs of certification. The TTT Program also offers incentive bonuses of $10,000 to participants who teach in high needs schools. TPC is not involved in the process of this financial assistance. |
