The History of Texas Beginning Education Support System (TxBESS)

As a result of a unique partnership among the Region 10 Education Service Center, several area school districts (14), teacher preparation entities (9), the State Board of Educator Certification, and the Texas Workforce Commission, exemplary processes and products have been developed that improve the support and retention of beginning educators.

Although the initial funding that facilitated the development of such materials as the TxBESS Activity Profile and the Educational Resources (ER) Videotape Series has concluded, Region 10 Education Service Center continues our commitment to partnering with districts in supporting and retaining early career teachers.

2007 TEA Beginning Induction and Mentoring Grant funds are currently available for TxBESS services.. These services and products support school cultures that welcome, encourage, and assist early career teachers.
