The Principal Appraisal Training (PAT) is training on the Commissioner-Recommended student performance domain. Appraisal employing a student performance domain is required of all principal appraisals under TEC § 21.354 (e). The structure of the Commissioner-Recommended student performance domain accomplishes for principal appraisal what Domain VIII under the Professional Development and Appraisal System (PDAS) accomplishes for teacher appraisal. All principals and their appraisers in adopting school districts are required to receive this training.

All school districts and charter schools are required under statute to either adopt the Commissioner-Recommended student performance domain or to develop such a domain for principal appraisal employing the decision-making processes, both district- and campus-levels, prescribed under Section 11.251 (site-based decision making). Principals who are not appraised at least every fifteen months are not allowed to be paid using funds of a school district [TEC § 21.354 (d)].
Only current campus principals are mandated to be included in this appraisal process. A district may, at its option, include assistant principals, instructional deans, and other campus administrative personnel on a space-available basis.
Registration will be by name upon the announcement of workshop dates through the district contact persons. Scheduled training dates are:

August 20, 2009 (Starting at 1:00 p.m.) June 24, 2010 (Starting at 1:00 p.m.)
September 24, 2009(Starting at 1:00 p.m.) August 26, 2010 (Starting at 1:00 p.m.)
October 29, 2009 (Starting at 1:00 p.m.)
The fee for this service is communicated annually to the district superintendent and charter schools as part of the commitment process for the Package of Administrative Services.
