The Texas Regional Math Collaborative for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching (TRC) is an award-winning statewide network of sixty P-16 partnerships that provide sustained and high intensity professional development to P-12 teachers of mathematics across the state.
Application Process
Applications for the Texas Regional Math Collaborative are accepted during January of each year for the upcoming school year. For an application or information please email the project director, Debbie Dethrage at debbie.dethrage@region10.org.
The program begins at the start of each academic year. Acceptance into the program begins in Spring of the prior year and continues through the summer until all available positions are filled. The program requires principal permission to participate.
The goal of the Mathematics Collaborative is to:
Each participant (to be known as the Mathematics Teacher Mentor) must attend a minimum of 100 contact hours. Part of the 100 contact hours that includes a 2012 summer institute. Upon the completion of all requirements, participants will receive a $1000 stipend. Stipend payments will be disbursed twice a year. In addition to the stipends, each participant will receive materials in the form of books, manipulatives or technology based on the program stipulations in designated sessions. Each Mathematics Teacher Mentor will be required to maintain and submit two times a year to the project director a staff development log. In addition, each mentor will also be required to conduct 12 hours of mentoring for teacher(s) on the home campus or in the district. This 12 hour requirement will count toward the 100 contact hours required. The mentor log will also be maintained and submitted to the project director twice a year. All other requirements will be discussed at the orientation meeting.
The Texas Regional Mathematics Collaborative's mission is to provide Region 10 mathematics teachers with support systems of scientifically researched, sustained, and high intensity professional development and mentoring to assist them in the successful implementation of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). The Texas Regional Mathematics Collaborative programs equip teachers with the knowledge and skills to engage students in meaningful learning experiences. Activities are designed to improve students' scientific, mathematical and technological literacy, and inspire them tp pursue science and engineering related careers.
