The School Readiness Integration Model is an integrated approach which brings together school districts, child care providers and Head Start programs in a cohesive service model designed to improve reading, math, and social development for pre-school children. This program provides funds to school districts, non-profit childcare providers, Head Start providers and other government funded organizations that are implementing the Texas Early Education Model (TEEM) developed by the State Center for Early Childhood Development.

Key principles of school readiness integration model

  • 1) the preparedness of all children to enter kindergarten on or above grade level and ready to benefit from the full array of public education services to keep them on grade level in kindergarten and beyond; and
  • (2) the development and implementation of a school readiness integration model that is community-based and individualized in ways that best serve each community in the most effective and efficient ways to meet each community’s needs.

Texas School Readiness Certification System

  • Proposed Objective measures determine if children are ready for school when enter kindergarten (early literacy, early math, and social/emotional development)
  • Children evaluated on whole child model to determine effectiveness of early education prior to entering kindergarten
  • TEEM (TX Early Education Model)
  • Rating provide “seal of approval” available for all preschool programs (not to replace NAEYC, TX Licensing regulations, or TX Rising Star program)
