  • Art EC-12

    Individuals applying for Art EC-12 must have at least 24 semester hours, 12 of which are upper-level, in art coursework.


    The cumulative and art GPA must be at least 2.5.

     

    A passing score on the #178 Art EC-12 PACT is required.   • Agricultural Science & Technology 6-12

    Individuals applying for Agricultural Science & Technology 6-12 must have at least 24 semester hours, 12 of which are upper-level, in agricultural science coursework.


    The cumulative and agricultural science GPA must be at least 2.5.

     

    A passing score on the #172 Agricultural Science and Technology 6-12 PACT is required.   • Bilingual Generalist EC-6

    Individuals applying for Bilingual Generalist EC-6 certification must have 24 semester hours: two courses of (6 semester hours) English, mathematics, science, and social studies. Additional subject areas considered include: physical education, health, music, technology applications, and art.


    The cumulative and 24-hour GPA must be at least 2.5.


    A passing score on the #191 Generalist EC-6 PACT and the #190 Bilingual Target Language Proficiency Test (BTLPT) PACT is required. An exception may be considered for the (BTLPT) upon a specific district request.  As soon as receiving your score sheet, submit a copy to the Region 10 Teacher Preparation and Certification Program.

    Note:  The #164 Bilingual Education Supplemental test will be taken after program acceptance and coursework.

  • Business Education 6-12

  • Chemistry 8-12

    Individuals applying for Chemistry 8-12 must have at least 24 semester hours, 12 of which are upper-level, in chemistry coursework.

  • Computer Science 8-12

    Individuals applying for Computer Science 8-12 must have at least 24 semester hours, 12 of which are upper-level, in computer science coursework.

  • Dance 8-12

    Individuals applying for Dance 8-12 must have at least 24 semester hours, 12 of which are upper-level, in dance coursework.

  • English, Language Arts and Reading 4-8

    Individuals applying for ELAR 4-8 must have at least 24 semester hours, 12 of which are upper-level, in English, language arts, and reading coursework.

    Note: The term "highly qualified" when used with respect to a content specific certification in grades 4-8, means that the teacher:


    • is new to the teaching profession; and
    • has passed a content specific 4-8 state test; and
    • is considered "highly qualified" in that certification of grades 7 and 8 only, according to Texas Public Law.

     

    Note: A passing score on the #111 Generalist 4-8 PACT means the teacher is "highly qualified" to teach in grades 4-8.  A passing score on the #191 Generalist EC-6 PACT means the teacher is "highly qualified" to teach in grades EC-6.

  • Family and Consumer Sciences 6-12

    Individuals applying for Family and Consumer Sciences 6-12 must have at least 24 semester hours, 12 of which are upper-level, in family studies, human services, human development, nutrition, food sciences, hospitality, consumer and resource management, textiles, apparel, and environmental design coursework.


    The cumulative and family and consumer sciences GPA must be at least 2.5.

     

    Approval for the Family and Consumer Sciences 6-12 test will be given upon acceptance into the program.

  • Generalist EC-6 with ESL

    Individuals applying for Generalist EC-6 with ESL certification must have 24 semester hours: two courses of (6 semester hours) English, mathematics, science, and social studies. Additional subject areas considered include: physical education, health, music, technology applications, and art.

  • Health Education EC-12

    Individuals applying for Health Education EC-12 must have at least 24 semester hours, 12 of which are upper-level, in health coursework.


    The cumulative and health GPA must be at least 2.5.

  • Health Science Technology 8-12

    Individuals applying for Health Science Technology 8-12 must have at least 24 semester hours, 12 of which are upper-level, in health science coursework.


    The cumulative and health science GPA must be at least 2.5.

     

    Additional requirements are:

     

    1) current licensure, certification, or registration by a nationally recognized accrediting agency as a health professions practitioner based on a program requiring at least two years of formal education.

     

    2) at least two years, full- time, wage-earning experience utilizing the licensure requirement.

     

    3) submission of the Texas Education Agency Statement of Qualifications for Secondary Career and Technical Certification to Region 10 Teacher Preparation and Certification Program.

     

    4) to review the list of acceptable health professions for the Health Science Technology certification.

     

    Approval for the Health Science Technology 8-12 test will be given upon acceptance into the program.

  • History 8-12

    Individuals applying for History 8-12 must have at least 24 semester hours, 12 of which are upper-level, in history coursework.


    The cumulative and history GPA must be at least 2.5.

  • Hospitality, Nutrition, Food Science 8-12

    Individuals applying for Hospitality, Nutrition, Food Science 8-12 must have at least 24 semester hours, 12 of which are upper-level, in food sciences, nutrition, lodging, and hospitality coursework.


    The cumulative and hospitality, nutrition, and food science GPA must be at least 2.5.

     

    Approval for the Hospitality, Nutrition, Food Science 8-12 test will be given upon acceptance into the program.

  • Journalism 8-12

    Individuals applying for Journalism 8-12 must have at least 24 semester hours, 12 of which are upper-level, in journalism coursework.


    The cumulative and journalism GPA must be at least 2.5.

  • Languages Other Than English (LOTE) EC-12

    Languages Other Than English certifications are: American Sign Language, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Latin, Russian, Spanish and Vietnamese.


    Individuals applying for Languages Other Than English EC-12 must have at least 24 semester hours, 12 of which are upper-level, in the target language coursework.


    The cumulative and target language GPA must be at least 2.5.


    1) A passing score on the target language PACT is required for the following:


    • #184 American Sign Language EC-12 and the Texas Assessment of Sign Communications-American Sign Language (TASC-ASL)
    • #610 French EC-12
    • #611 German EC-12
    • #612 Latin EC-12
    • #613 Spanish EC-12

    2) A passing score on the target language American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Oral Proficiency Interview and the Written Proficiency Test are required for the following:


    • Arabic EC-12
    • Chinese EC-12
    • Japanese EC-12
    • Russian EC-12
    • Vietnamese EC-12

    The ACTFL oral and written tests are administered at Region 10 Teacher Preparation and Certification Program.

  • Life Science 8-12

    Individuals applying for Life Science 8-12 must have at least 24 semester hours, 12 of which are upper-level, in life science coursework.


    The cumulative and life science GPA must be at least 2.5.

  • Marketing 8-12

    Individuals applying for Marketing 8-12 must have at least 24 semester hours, 12 of which are upper-level, in marketing coursework.


    The cumulative and marketing GPA must be at least 2.5.

     

    Additional requirements are:

     

    1) at least two years, full-time, wage-earning experience in one or more of the marketing occupations.

     

    2) submission of the Texas Education Agency Statement of Qualifications for Secondary Career and  Technical Certification to Region 10 TPC Program.

     

    Approval for the #175 Marketing test will be given upon acceptance in the Region 10 TPC Program.

    Individuals applying for Social Studies 4-8 must have at least 24 semester hours, 12 of which are upper-level, in American history, world history, Texas history, economics, geography, and American government coursework.


    The cumulative and social studies GPA must be at least 2.5.

     

    A passing score on the #118 Social Studies 4-8 PACT is required. An exception may be considered upon a specific district request.  As soon as receiving your score sheet, submit a copy to the Region 10 Teacher Preparation and Certification Program. 


    Note: The term "highly qualified" when used with respect to a content specific certification in grades 4-8, means that the teacher:

  • Technology Education 6-12

  • Theatre EC-12

    Individuals applying for Theatre EC-12 must have at least 24 semester hours, 12 of which are upper-level, in theatre coursework.

  • Trades and Industrial Education 8-12

    Individuals applying for the Trades and Industrial Education 8-12 must have  at least 24 semester hours, 12 of which are upper-level, in coursework related to the subject taught.


      The cumulative and subject GPA must be at least a 2.5.

     

    Additional requirements are:

     

    1) at least three years of  full-time, wage-earning experience, within the past eight years, in the approved occupation for which instruction is offered.

     

    2) current licensure, certification, or registration by a state or nationally recognized accrediting agency as a professional practitioner in one or more approved occupations for which instruction is offered.


    3) if the licensure, certification, or registration is not based on a recognized test or measurement, then passing the appropriate National Occupational Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI) assessment is required.

     

    4) submission of the Texas Education Agency Statement of Qualifications for Secondary Career and Technical Certification to Region 10 TPC Program.
