For students with individualized education programs (IEPs), LEAs must ensure that students have access to the educational opportunities provided by the LEA. LEAs should provide the special education and related services identified in the IEP, to the greatest extent possible. Present circumstances may impact how special education and related services are provided, and school districts may not be able to provide all services in the same manner that they are typically provided.
Student learning has been impacted due to school closures at individualized rates. Our goal is to support the Special Education team, in each LEA, to maintain appropriate instruction for each individual student and minimize student regression as much as possible during this unique time.
This sample template has been developed by the Region 10 Special Education Task Force to assist with reopening for the 2020-2021 school year. It includes considerations, curated resources, LEA samples, and guidance documents related to the provision of special education services.
