An illuminating series on what you need to know (n2k)

Our Region 10 Science Consultants will help 5th grade science teachers:

Collection of old Edison-type light bulbs

  • Establish a student-centered, inquiry-based, excited-about-science laboratory culture.

  • Provide meaningful, hands-on labs for students using low-cost materials.

  • Have a cohort of science teachers as well as Region 10 consultants for networking, brainstorming, collaboration, and support.

  • Quickly learn best practices in science education.

  • Manage their science classes to reduce the need for administrative intervention.

  • Love teaching and stay in the profession!

All teachers should be 5th grade science.

Teachers will meet face-to-face six times for day-long, experiential professional development which includes conducting multiple labs each session. They are also encouraged to participate in a virtual forum once each semester.

Cost:

  • $300 per teacher for the year-long Institute for Title 2 Co-op member district teachers

  • $600 for Non Co-op member district teachers.
