Each year TASB recognizes a select group of superintendents for exemplary and visionary leadership. One of these administrators will be designated as the new Superintendent of the Year at the TASA/TASB Annual Convention in Austin next fall.
Nominations should be sent by Monday, May 15, 2017, to your region's education service center (ESC). Entries must be either postmarked by May 15 or delivered to the ESC by close of business that day.
Award & Sponsor
The Superintendent of the Year receives a $5,000 award, which will be presented at the 2017 Texas Association of School Administrators/Texas Association of School Boards (TASA/TASB) Annual Convention in Austin. The award program is underwritten by Balfour and sponsored by TASB.
The Superintendent of the Year will be selected for exhibiting leadership in his or her school district in the following areas:
- Student Performance
- Administration and School Climate
- School Board-Superintendent Relations
- School Improvement
- Fiscal Management
- Facilities Management
- Instructional Management
- Student Management
- Personnel Management
- School-Community Relations
Entry forms must be completed by the school board and signed by the board president, along with a resolution indicating the board’s decision to nominate the superintendent.
Districts need only prepare one page of narrative (front only) for each major heading on the official entry form.
A basic resume (no more than three pages) with a photo of the superintendent on a separate page should be attached with the completed entry.
Please be sure to specify current involvement in professional organizations on the resume.
Please do not submit a spiral-bound entry or include additional documentation or photos.
Response to each major heading on the entry should be limited to one page (front only).
