ELAR TEKS and TexQuest Resources Make a Perfect Pair

As Texas educators dive into the ELAR standards, librarians are ready to support them by sharing relevant resources including genre-specific text, multimodal text, videos and podcasts to support listening, reader's Theater scripts to support drama and performance standards as well as TEKS aligned articles, images, charts, and eBooks found in digital content like TexQuest! Attendees will discover where to find specific ELAR resources within TexQuest that support the newer ELAR standards and learn how to easily share resources with students/staff/parents via learning management system integrations, Google/Microsoft, or permalinks. Session activities will focus on connections between curriculum, classroom instruction, and TexQuest digital resources.

When family members learn they have access to TexQuest, they wonder why they haven’t known about them all along! Parents can assist their students at home with assignments, find accommodations for children with special needs, translate articles for non-English speaking family members, prepare their children for college and career tests, and even find videos, articles, ebooks, and career resources to use themselves. Attendees will learn best practices to share appropriate resources with families, learn tips on how to make it easy for families to access TexQuest from home using provider icons and links, and leave with ready made marketing resources they can turn and use right away.

Title: The Joy of Reading: Joyful Reading Thrives in a Supportive Community
In this workshop, Donalyn Miller shares the benefits of supportive reading communities, the pitfalls when building school wide reading initiatives, and abundant resources for fostering your school reading community. Evidence shows that positive reading communities at school and home influence the reading lives and literacy development of young people.
The workshop includes extensive book recommendations of current and timeless books that engage students and can support independent reading or group reading and discussion.
“Inspired to Learn” Digital Learning Radio Podcasts
Two Region 10 digital learning consultants, Kathryn and Laura are inspired to learn and inspired to share. Each week they discuss the ongoing story of their learning as they engage in reflective practice to connect their ideas and continuously grow. They release new episodes on Thursdays and you can subscribe to all of the podcast platforms (Apple, Spotify, Audible, etc…).
As an added bonus, you can listen to podcasts episodes and reflect on what you learned by filling out a form for an hour of credit. (All of those details are on our website and in our show notes each week.)
