The IDEA Regulations Section 300.138 along with No Child Left Behind incorporates statutory requirements relating to the inclusion of children with disabilities in general state and district-wide assessment programs with appropriate accommodations and alternate assessments where necessary and as indicated in their individualized education programs (IEPs). In response to this mandate, the STAAR Assessment Program includes special education students in testing using STAAR or STAAR Alternate 2.
