Special Education is governed by the requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The Texas Education Agency (TEA) oversees primary and secondary public education in the state of Texas. TEA’s mission is to improve outcomes for all public school students in the state by providing leadership, guidance, and support to school systems. In coordination with TEA and Local Education Agencies (LEAs), TEA developed the Texas Legal Framework to provide and maintain an updated web-based platform for various stakeholders in learning about state and federal laws and regulations, as well as post LEA Board Policies and Operating Procedures.
