Region 10 Honors
Region 10 Teacher of the Year
Region 10 selects one elementary and one secondary Teacher of the Year each year. These two individuals continue on to compete for the title of Texas Teacher of the Year, an award presented by the Texas Association of School Administators (TASA).
Eligibility & Selection Process
Each school district and charter school may select one Elementary and Secondary Teacher of the Year to advance to the regional level. The teachers must complete the online Texas Teacher of the Year application by June 15, 2025. The Region 10 selection process is conducted between mid-June and early July.
All district level winners will be invited to attend the annual Region 10 Teacher of the Year celebration on Thursday, July 31 at the Frontiers of Flight Museum in Dallas. During the event, Region 10 will announce the two winners who will advance to the state level.
For more information about the Texas Teacher of the Year Awards, please visit the TASA website.

Region 10 Superintendent of the Year
Each year, Region 10 recognizes an outstanding superintendent with the Region 10 Superintendent of the Year award. This superintendent is then eligible to advance to the state-level selection process, which is conducted by the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB). TASB selects five state finalists, and one superintendent will earn the title of Texas Superintendent of the Year, an award presented annually at tcEDCON.
School boards must complete the nomination packet and submit it to Region 10 Executive Director Dr. Jana Melsheimer (jana.melsheimer@region10.org) by April 18, 2025. The regional selection process will take place in May, and the Region 10 Superintendent of the Year will be announced in June.
The official entry form and supporting documentation are available on the TASB's Superintendent of the Year website.
Region 10 Outstanding School Board
Region 10 annually selects one Outstanding School Board as part of the TASA Outstanding School Board Awards Program. Nominations for this award must be submitted by a superintendent who is a TASA member and who has been serving in his/her current position since at least July 1, 2023. The award criteria and guidelines for nomination are available on the TASA website.
Superintendents/districts must upload their PDF nominations for the 2025 awards program to a designated Box folder by May 29, 2025. (Please email TASA Awards Coordinator Faye Alexis to get the URL for the Box folder.)
The 2025 awards recognize the work of school boards during the 2024-25 school year, so board members included in the nomination should be those who served on the board during the bulk of the 2024-25 academic year, even if there is a change in board membership at the end of the school year.
