Dr. Mike Waldrip, Superintendent of Frisco Independent School District, has been named the 2025 Region 10 Superintendent of the Year. This award recognizes his outstanding leadership and commitment to educational excellence across one of Texas's largest school districts.

Dr. Waldrip has served as Frisco ISD's superintendent for eight years, leading a district that serves more than 65,000 students across 77 campuses. Under his leadership, the district has demonstrated remarkable academic improvements, implemented innovative educational programs, and fostered a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

"Dr. Waldrip exemplifies the qualities we seek in educational leaders," said Dr. Jana Melsheimer, Region 10 Executive Director. "His visionary approach to education and ability to build strong community partnerships while maintaining focus on academic excellence make him truly deserving of this recognition."

Before becoming superintendent, Dr. Waldrip dedicated 16 years to classroom education as a biology teacher and coach, later transitioning into campus and district administration. This extensive background in education has provided him with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing students, teachers, and administrators at every level.

During his tenure as superintendent, Dr. Waldrip has fostered an inclusive environment where every voice is valued, implementing a participatory approach to decision-making that empowers administrators and teachers to contribute ideas and solutions. His emphasis on innovative educational practices has led to initiatives that have significantly increased student engagement and performance across all grade levels.

Under Dr. Waldrip's leadership, the district has strengthened partnerships with local organizations, families, and businesses. His proactive outreach efforts have opened doors for collaborations that enhance educational programs and provide valuable opportunities for students.

Dr. Waldrip has also prioritized mental health and well-being for students and staff, implementing comprehensive programs that address critical needs within the district to ensure every student can thrive academically and personally.

As Region 10 Superintendent of the Year, Dr. Waldrip will be considered for the statewide Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Superintendent of the Year award.
