Ashley Ross, Garland ISD
Ashley Ross from Back Elementary School in Garland ISD has been selected as the 2026 Region 10 Elementary Teacher of the Year.
Ross creates a classroom where every child is seen, valued, and empowered. Through intentional, inclusive practices, she builds a learning environment where diversity isn't just acknowledged—it's celebrated.
Her impact extends beyond her own classroom as she mentors new teachers, hosts student interns, and models best practices with warmth and excellence. Her creativity shines through memorable lessons, like using a children's book about s'mores to teach students they're "better together"—hands-on, heartfelt, and transformative.
As a trusted campus leader, Ross redesigned her school's dismissal procedures to safely serve hundreds of students daily. Rain or shine, she's out front leading by example with a smile and a wave.
Most importantly, she's a passionate advocate for public education. After years in leadership roles, she made the meaningful choice to return to the classroom where her impact would be greatest. She continues growing as a lifelong learner, currently pursuing her doctorate to further support future teachers.
